Surf Camp

Fall asleep to the world’s finest wave machine – the Pacific Ocean

School’s out, summer’s here, and Camp Surf in San Diego County, is the perfect way to kick off this special time of the year. At Camp Surf you’ll pitch your tent right on the beach, within earshot of the world’s original wave machine. The Y’s Camp Surf is the best of both camp experiences–tent camping and eating. Five buffet-style meals served just a few feet from your tent. Plus, if you’re hankering for some authentic Mexican food, there are many delicious choices just minutes away.

What to expect at Summer Camp

Camp Surf is filled with activities for the kids. The camp staff provides surfboards, boogie boards and lifeguards to watch your young surfers. When the kids finally become waterlogged, they can build sandcastles and hunt for sand crabs. If you get tired of playing in the waves, the campgrounds offer a range of activities, including Goo ball, volleyball, basketball, archery, rock wall, and craft room.

The campground opens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and is open for check-in until 9:00 p.m. If you arrive late on Friday night or Saturday morning, please notify the Program Director. Everyone needs to leave their campsite by 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning. All individuals, including family members, MUST be pre-registered and pre-paid at the Westchester YMCA or you will NOT be admitted to camp.

Restroom areas have outdoor rinse-off stations and individual, indoor hot showers. Sorry–no motor homes/RVs, pets, radios, TVs or anything else loud or smelly.

Remember, the YMCA has a strict no alcohol policy. As this is a YMCA sponsored family event, alcohol is not welcome. Additionally, please remember to take home all recyclable items and dispose of them properly.
